Real-life Wedding: Tabitha and Luke

Have a look at these gorgeous photos from the recent wedding of Tabitha and Luke. The lovely bride had a fabulous eye for detail and supplied so many little extras to theme the wedding.

Wedding ceremony on the pool deck with white theme and giant balloons

The giant white balloons and silver tin vases with babies breath framed the aisle beautifully, tying in with the white, silver and black theme.

Tabitha had an abundance of vases with white flowers, even above the bridal party at the ceremony.

The refreshment table held the ceremony programs, iced water and cute cookies with silver glitter icing for her guests. The enormous “T&L” letters looked brilliant.

String quartet playing at the wedding ceremony on the pool deck.

A string quartet provided entertainment for the guests and also played the bridal entrance music. Live music at the ceremony is so romantic.

Blackboard table seating plan

The seating plan was drawn up on a blackboard at the entrance to the reception room and decorated with more flowers and the balloons.

Colourful Candy Buffet

I put together this candy buffet for a birthday party at home recently. Bright coloured lollies separated into layers have such a great impact on a candy buffet.

It took quite a while to separate all the lollies into their individual colours, but I think the outcome was worth it!

Theming idea: Elegant Black and White Dinner with Unique Table Format

We’re setting up tonight for a dinner with a Black and White theme, and I wanted to share some pictures of it with you.

In particular, we’ve set the tables up with a rather unique format, and I think it works really nicely to encourage guests to talk with one another. We wanted to set up two really long tables, but in a sort of nested “V” configuration to help guests talk to those around them, and not just the person seated beside them.

Here’s the floor plan of what we wanted to achieve:

Here’s what it looked like once we set it up inside the room:

Sofitel Gold Coast Broadbeach Elegant Black and White Dinner-84

I think this would work really well for a small, intimate reception, or for a sit-down engagement party dinner.

The theme is Black and White, so we used simple white tablecloths with plain black chair covers – no sashes or any “fussy” detailing to detract from the elegant simplicity.

Sofitel Gold Coast Broadbeach Elegant Black and White Dinner-73 Sofitel Gold Coast Broadbeach Elegant Black and White Dinner-76

To keep the tables feeling long and streamlined,we ran long black satin runners through the centre of each “V”, then topped it with square mirror bases set diagonally. On top of these are crystal and wire “branches” and a string of fairly lights threaded through.

To add a bit of warmth to the space, we covered a a side table with black Lycra, and placed on top a really big floral display featuring all white flowers with black accents and a sleek black vase.

And there you have it! Our Elegant Black and White dinner is all set for tonight.

And The Wedding Colour Of This Year Is…

by Simone Hill for The Knot

I came across this article over at the wonderful wedding site The Knot:

Yesterday, Pantone announced that radiant orchid is the official colour of the year for 2014, and we’re predicting it’s going to be a hot colour for weddings too! Radiant orchid is a cross between purple and pink (which makes it perfect if you love both colours and just can’t decide). Like emerald, which was last year’s colour of the year, this saturated hue is a rich jewel tone, but that doesn’t mean it’s only for autumn and winter weddings.

If you love bright colours then pair radiant orchid with teal or go simple and combine it with white for a fresh spring or summer palette! Moth and dendrobium orchids grow naturally in this modern colour, so use them in your centrepieces and bouquet layered with other shades of purple and pink for eye-catching floral arrangements. See our style board below to find radiant orchid wedding inspiration!

Ideas for summer brides — or frankly, any wedding lover –to swoon. So let’s wrap up the chitty chat and get straight to the goods, shall we? Our ten top details for warm-weathered nuptials…

One. Nothing gussies up your trip down the aisle like a gorgeous pot of poppy florals. Choose a hue that works with your palette, and let these potted pretties decorate your ceremony, serve as centerpieces or even give away to guests as favors!

Two. Beat the heat with fans or umbrellas to keeps guest cool and comfy during your outdoor affair. Place one on each chair or have them waiting for guests at the entrance of your ceremony.

Three. Refreshing cocktails greeting your guests are sure to be an instant hit and a fun way to add a splash of personality to your cocktail hour. Some warm-weathered beverages that we can’t get enough of? Margaritas and scrumptious Mojitos.

Four. Set-up a shaded spot for your guests to lounge and sip on those yummy aforementioned cocktails. A small tent, umbrellas or an outdoor patio will do the trick.

Five. You know what we love? Wedding sunglasses, that’s what! Pass sunnies out to all your loved ones so they can get their summer receptioning on in style.

Six. Summer is the perfect, PERFECT time to infuse your day with color. Think bright hues and fun fabrics decorating the reception tables. Speaking of which, how amazing is this tablescape? We love that Ikat runner so much, we could marry it.

Seven. Think outside the box for wedding day details and set your sites on fruit. It runs a plenty in the summer months and let’s face it, a juicy peach used as a seating card is just that…peachy.

Eight. Go bright or go home is our summer wedding motto. Flowers are blooming and they come in many a pretty color. Have fun mixing big blooms and different hues. You can’t go wrong with pretty shades of yellow and coral.

Nine. There’s nothing like sparkling lanterns to light the dinner table. Hanging unique shape lanterns at different levels are a fun way to spice up the traditional alfresco meal.

Ten. We definitely all scream for ice cream and it goes without saying that the warmer temperatures deserve a little sweat treat cool down. For go the crudités and pass ice cream cones at the cocktail hour or better yet, serve a late night sundae bar. Your guests and their tummies will thank you.
